Starting a New Tradition: the Winter Solstice

December 9, 2008

Avoid the excess and change the way you entertain forever. Who says that we have to deliver either near-perfection or food that breaks the bank, especially in the midst of the holiday season? The winter solstice (the longest night of the year) is on December 21st. It marks the perfect time to slow-down and renew instead of zooming in a rush of last minute to-dos.

Cooking up a meal that is nourishing yet easy to prepare, arranging winter branches from the yard on the dining table, and lighting our home only with candles (and lots of them) is the plan to appreciate the season’s darkness.

Also: This year, the Solstice is the first night of Hannukah too. Some of Loulies featured recipes to try: Sweet Potato Latkes, Braised Brisket of Beef, Roasted Winter Vegetables
