A nice serving tray with handles is a very practical item to have for entertaining . You find yourself using it to serve everything from cocktails, hors d’oeuvres to soups or party sips, to clear and schlep things back and forth to the table and even to hold books or other coffee table items. Old or new, we have accumulated a rather large collection.
Our good friend Soraya Jones, local DC artist, has created a new line of handled lacquer trays with thoughts of simple entertaining. Available in vibrant patterns of fruits, vegetables and flowers they are easy to clean and great for casual get-togethers. We really like her latest, the round Mocha Cosmos tray in velvety, chocolate brown. It reminded us of a favorite re-creation (but not with chocolate) of the classic drink.
In Season - Pomegranate Cosmo
2 ounces Absolut Mandarin vodka
3 ounces pomegranate juice
Mint, for garnish
Combine vodka and pomegranate juice in a cocktail shaker with ice and shake until chilled. Strain into a martini glass. Garnish with mint.
