Wow! We tried this and have not stopped using it. Sprinkle it on chicken, egg,
and tuna salads to add a gorgeous complexity to old stand-bys. Also try it on
deviled eggs, barbequed meats, and pan-roasted seafood.

Garlic Salt
Use it on everything: breakfast eggs, corn-on-the-cob, grilled fish, roasted
potatoes, and bread. This is a Santa Monica Farmers Market find.

Hibiscus Tea
Steep, sweeten, and chill. Add lime juice to serve. Hibiscus is a small tree with bright red flowers that are high in antioxidants and known to lower blood pressure.

Garlic Press
This sleek, modern kitchen gadget actually works and it has the added feature
of being able to “wash” away the garlic smells. Made of stainless steel, simple chemistry neutralizes or breaks down the odor molecules upon contact.

Orange Muscat Champagne Vinegar
For a super-simple vinaigrette, add a splash of this California varietal with some
really good olive oil and dress up just about anything: spicy greens, heirloom
tomatoes, avocado slices, or creamy feta.

A tip from a friend led us to the fab little bookshop, Books for Cooks, just off London’s Portobello Market. The favorite recipes from the store’s test kitchen are collected in miniature volumes that are great for when you’re away from home.
