Traditional Haroset
3/4 c. walnuts
1 lg. apple
½ c. chopped apricots
about ½ c. red wine to moisten
grated zest and juice of one orange
2 tsp. cinnamon
2 tsp. sugar
honey to taste
Mince walnuts, apple and apricots. (You can use the food processor for this.) Moisten with red wine and orange juice, add zest and flavor with cinnamon and sugar. The consistency will be like a paste. Will keep in refrigerator for about 3 days.
Variations: You can also add chopped and pitted dates, chopped figs, raisins and chopped almonds to the mix.
