Unexpected Guests

Mixing up the ages - knowing that your guests will bring many perspectives and interests to the table - may be all you need to host a great party. A recent gathering for lunch included couples ranging in their 30s to 70s. The host wanted to fête a young Jazz couple (he a tenor saxophonist and she a lithe, energetic singer) with a diverse bunch of their friends. To our delight, what made the afternoon just so lovely was the mixed-age group.

So, the next time you decide to have a party, consider this: invite new acquaintances, a few older folks (the “grown-ups”), a couple of younger pals, and enjoy the mix.
