DIY Fall Cleanse

Bettina is about to begin a 10-day whole foods cleanse developed and overseen by holistic nutrition counselor Christy Halvorsen Ross. Together with an online group of fellow “detoxers”, Christy will guide, support and offer encouragement through the difficult task of cutting out so many everyday foods: sugar, dairy, gluten (wheat, soy sauce, barley, spelt), red meat, caffeine, alcohol, processed food and all artificial additives. What will she eat? Lots of greens and vegetables of all kinds, fruit, nuts, beans, brown rice, quinoa, sea vegetables and seeds with limited amounts of eggs, fish and corn.

Considering that a wise and wonderful friend recommended this non-starvation cleanse, Bettina is curious to see which foods are the best (and the worst) for her body. She really likes that purchasing supplemental shakes and protein bars are not part of the plan. This whole foods cleanse is all about cooking in your kitchen and picking and choosing which recipes to make as long as they follow the rules. Already she has found many seasonal recipes from Loulies to start:
